Chinese Construct Hotel In 48 Hours
Ark Hotel China - 15 floors in 48hours
Behold China's real estate boom, in time-lapse! It took just six days to build the Ark Hotel in Changsha. According to the video, no stationary cranes were used in construction and there wasn't single injury among the site's workers. Hat tip to Good
The finished building stood 15 stories and used prefabricated columns (the foundation was apparently already built). Better yet, because the building's parts were factory-built waste was minimized.
Demolition of Chimney
The former Ohio Edison Mad River Power Plant's 275-foot smoke stack crushes surrounding buildings as it falls the wrong way during its demolition Wednesday, Nov. 10.
“Oh no.”
Those were some of the last words heard before shouts to get back as the old Mad River Power Plant’s 275-foot tower toppled in the wrong direction about noon Wednesday.
The blasts should have sent the stack onto a cleared area directly to the east, but instead the tower crashed to the southeast.
No one was injured but the tower knocked down two 12,500-volt power lines and smashed a building housing back-up generators.

Building Collapse - Demolition Fail
Demolition is the tearing-down of buildings and other structures, the opposite of construction. Demolition contrasts with deconstruction, which involves taking a building apart while carefully preserving valuable elements for re-use.
