Croatian 8 years old soccer player - Nikola Vlasic
Slaven Bilić: Nikola Vlašić je čudo
Nikola Vlašić, devetogodišnji brat naše atletske zvijezde Blanke, velika je nogometna nada. Mladi talent zaintrigirao je i našeg izbornika Slavena Bilića.
- Mali Nikola je čudo. Vidio sam ga uživo i oduševio me.

Mladici / Room-mates
2007 couple of students from Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade (Uroš Tomić, Pavle Vučković) made a pilot for television sitcom named "Mladići"(international title is "Room-mates" since the title is play of words). It's about two young men (young men is "mladići" on Serbian) who need to move out of their parents house so their grandmother (Ratko Mladić's made-up-for-tv high school sweetheart) offers them her apartment if they agree to hide war criminal Ratko Mladić (played by Aleksandar Hrnjakovic) who is running away from his International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia trial. Even though the episode is based on almost pure fiction and fabricated truth, neither TV station in Serbia (including B92 and Radio Television of Serbia) wanted to pick this show up, and the reason was anything from "expensive production" (which is not true) to "theme that would make viewers angry" (and that could be true at some point, but South Park does it all the time and it re-invented modern television in that kind of way).

Druze Tito kupit cu ti Ficu...
Sto je muskarac bez brkova? (What Is a Man Without a Moustache?)
The title itself is a giveaway. Hrvoje Hribar's Sto je muskarac bez brkova? (What Is a Man Without a Moustache?) is light comedy. This is another one of those cassock-chasing romances between a young widow and a reluctant priest haunted by an alcoholic past and his concupiscence. As for what the title refers to, that's any one's guess — save that the macho in the film is a general with a moustache, who also happens to be the priest's brother. His unquenchable yen for the fair sex leads him to the open arms of the widow as well. That intertwined episode is just one of the tales in this comedy on sex and mores in provincial Croatia (Dalmatian Zagora).

UEFA CUP: Dinamo - Ajax 0:1
Draws may not have favoured NK Dinamo Zagreb in recent seasons but the runaway Croatian league leaders are determined to give AFC Ajax a game in the UEFA Cup.
Bad luck
Last season, Dinamo lost to Arsenal FC in the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round before losing to AJ Auxerre to miss out on a place in the UEFA Cup group stage. This season Europe's top club competition proved a step too far as they lost 5-3 on aggregate to German giants Werder Bremen, and they could have been excused a gasp of horror when the UEFA Cup draw paired them with Ajax.
Old Ethno Song
Ojkavica is a type of singing from Dalmatian Zagora (Croatia) . It is characterized by a lone singer singing one line of lyrics and then others joining in for what can be best described as a wail. It is a very passionate form of singing, which is one of the reasons it has been limited in popularity to small towns.

Pjesma za stradale vatrogasce: OVO NIJE KRAJ
Iza duge srest ću te ja
Jer nebo vidi, nebo sve zna
Čuva mjesto za bolje od svih
Dal sam i ja jedan od njih
Iza suza još sunce sja
Svijetlo djeli dobro od zla
Sto oluja, pobjeda sto
Dal sam i ja rođen za to
Kroz sve moje dane i godine
Samo srce imam da vodi me
I u mraku sam, vjerujem i znam...
Ovo nije kraj
Gore pogledaj
Tamo piše drugo ime
Hrabrosti
Ovo nije kraj
Zadnji zagrljaj
Sve dok za vas gore svijeće ljubavi
Sva je tuga svijeta u meni
A ja nedam da me pobjedi

Eurobasket 2007: Lithuania - Croatia 74:72
Lithuania Slip Past Croatia, Into Semis
Zoran Planinic missed two foul shots with 1.02 seconds remaining, allowing Lithuania to hold off a motivated Croatia 74-72 and book their spot in Saturday's semi-finals against Russia.
Darius Songalia scored 20 points, grabbed seven rebounds and gave Lithuania the winning basket with 46 seconds left.
Linas Kleiza collected 19 points and nine rebounds and Sarunas Jasikevicius dished out eight assists as Lithuania remained the only perfect team in the competition.
"It should have been an easier game, but it was very difficult for us psychologically. Croatia are a very good team, but every team in the quarter-finals is good," said Ramunas Siskauskas, who was held to just two points.
"We were a bit nervous at the beginning, but not in the final seconds and that's what helped us to the win."
Lithuania are hoping to repeat their 2003 run to the EuroBasket title - which they won with a perfect 6-0 run.

Andorra - Croatia 0:6
Croatia crush sorry Andorra
Three goals in either half helped Croatia consolidate their UEFA EURO 2008™ Group E lead in this impressive six-goal showing against Andorra.
Petrić double
Mladen Petrić had scored four goals in the Croatian record-equalling 7-0 home win against David Rodrigo's side last October and the BV Borussia Dortmund player was again on target with two first-half strikes for the visitors. Darijo Srna, Niko Kranjčar, Eduardo da Silva and Ivan Rakitic were the other marksmen on a miserable day for Andorra, compounded by the 77th-minute dismissal of Genís García.
Deadlock broken
There had been little goalmouth action until midway through the first half when Kranjčar shot wide from just outside the area. A minute later, Eduardo headed over the bar from close range as the visitors began to assert their authority. Croatia then went ahead on 34 minutes, when Srna's free-kick deflected off the wall and over the helpless goalkeeper Koldo Álvarez.
Goal flurry
Within four minutes, Slaven Bilić's side had doubled their lead from another set-piece: Petrić curling an exquisite left-footed free-kick past Koldo. The forward then made it 3-0 a minute before the interval with an angled 12-metre drive that crept just inside the far post. After the break, three became four as the unmarked Kranjčar crashed a left-footed strike into the corner from nine metres. And as Andorra's resistance crumbled it was 5-0, Eduardo pouncing from short range after Kranjčar's shot had been blocked on the line on 55 minutes.
Croatia's dominance was total and a sixth goal duly arrived on 64 minutes, when substitute Rakitic poked in the rebound after Koldo had parried Petrić's curling free-kick
MONTENEGRO - SWEDEN (Mirko Vucinic goal)
Hladnokrvni Šveđani, ipak, nijesu imali sentimentalnosti prema domaćem timu i šest hiljada navijača - iskoristili veliki pad protivnika u finišu, kaznili dvije greške i odnijeli pobjedu. U meču u kojem je četa Zorana Filipovića zaslužila mnogo više od minimalnog poraza domaćin je poveo golom Vučinića u 16. minutu, a Skandinavci preokrenuli preko Rozenberga i Price u 70. i 74.

Toma Bebic - Leute Moj
Dogodilo se to jednoga dana u misecu,
tamo neke teške godine,
osta si sam,
napušten brod,
leute moj.
Rastočija si se
ka barilo,
leute moj.
I mriža je sagnjila,
leute moj,
osta si sam,
napušten brod.
Suze su nestale
iz tila tvog,
leute moj.
A sićanja naviru,
leute moj,
osta si sam,
tužan i tih.
Brodovi su isti ka i ljudi
zlu moru daju život svoj.
(Za tobom umiru.)
Brodovi su isti ka i ljudi
za suzu daju suze dvi.
(Za tobom umiru.)
Dogodilo se to jednoga dana u misecu,

Croatia - Estonia 2:0 (Eduardo da Silva show)
Eduardo keeps Croatia on course
Eduardo da Silva struck twice inside six first-half minutes to seal an easy win for Croatia and move them two points clear at the Group E summit.
The Arsenal FC forward doubled the advantage in added time at the end of the first half, collecting a right-wing pass from Luka Modrić and making no mistake with a rasping left-footed drive straight into the top right corner to put the tie beyond doubt. From there on it became a damage-limitation exercise for Estonia, who succeeded by not conceding again...

Eurobasket 2007: Croatia - Spain 85:84
Marko Tomas buried a three-pointer with 3.1 seconds remaining as Croatia stunned Spain 85-84 to finish top of Group B in Seville.
The win, achieved in Seville’s San Pablo Pavilion, gained partial revenge for the Croatians who were knocked out of EuroBasket 2005 by Spain in the quarter-finals.
The result also put Portugal into the next round, while eliminating Latvia – the team that beat Croatia in the opening game, 85-77.
Portugal upset Latvia on Wednesday.
“I’m really happy that we qualified for the next round with four points, that’s a big advantage for us,” said Croatia coach Jasmin Repesa.
“But, at the same time, we have to stay quiet and go game by game because we’ve seen many surprises already in this championship. I believed after the first big loss to Latvia, that we would get to Madrid. But I was worried how we played then.”
Sexy Music: I-Gee - Daj mi medeni
Daj mi, daj mi medeni,
Daj tvoj osmjeh ledeni,
Od kojeg protrnem sva,
Ukocim se k'o glupaca!
Daj mi, daj mi mileni,
Daj tvoj osmjeh svileni,
Spojimo se ti i ja,
Zdruzimo sad srca dva!

Blanka Vlasic - World Champion
VIDEOS: Blanka Vlasic - All About
Sve o Blanki Vlašić
When she knew she had won, Blanka Vlasic decided there was still a treat or two in store for the crowd. She would attempt to break the High Jump world record, but first cam a little dance from the first World champion from Croatia.
She stood by the side of the mat and she jigged one way, and then the other. The spectators celebrated – and she waved and danced away more.
“I wanted to win this gold medal so much,” said Vlasic, 23, from Split. “Now I am in a state of shock.”
The unleashing of these emotions after she had been the only athlete to clear 2.05m brought confirmation of what the sport knew about her.
In 2002, in Santiago, Chile, and two years later in Kingston, Jamaica, Vlasic won gold at the IAAF World Junior Championships, one of the best bases for success as a senior.
It put her third on the all-time list behind Kostandinova and her fellow Bulgarian Lyudmila Andonova and if she does break the World record, we now know what to expect.
“In every competition, I actually have a different dance," she said. "It gives positive energy to people in the crowd. You need to spice it up.”

Nikola Tesla biography (7 videos)
Nikola Tesla was born in Smiljan on July 10th 1856, a little village near Gospić in Lika, Croatia. Their family name was not always Tesla. It had been Draganić, surname Tesla was given to them afterwards. Namely, allegedly one of Nikola's ancestors had extremely big front teeth that resembled carpenter tools ("Tesarski" alat) so he got the nickname "Tesla" after it.
Nikola grew up in a land-tilling environment. In those days Lika was one of the most underdeveloped and isolated regions of the Hapsburg Monarchy. Illiteracy, lack of education were characteristics of a whole southeast part of the Monarchy. Apart from that, up to 1881 Lika was included in Military Border so the life in the that region was far harder and more cruel than the life in the civil part of Croatia.
Up to age of ten, there was no possibility for Nikola to see the locomotive let alone to find out anything about the world technical achievements. One of the earliest events that Tesla remembered was that when he had been locked in a little mountain church. At the age of five Nikola would take a walk on Velebit, which towered above his home village...
